Writing to Cope

When I am going through a difficult phase I tend to bottle everything up.

I used to think it was normal to do this and that it was a more efficient way of dealing with my feelings. Through doing this for so long, it became habitual and the idea of actually speaking to someone about my issues was very scary. While I am still working on expressing my thoughts verbally, I have found a way that has helped me cope with my subdued feelings.

I spend at least 10-20 minutes a day or when I am feeling particularly stressed, writing down all the words in my head. Whether they are random or are linked to the emotions I am feeling, I write them down. This helps alleviate some of the weight I feel and is still a way of offloading the thoughts I do not fully understand yet.
